At Brazos Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Inc. and Dental Implant Center, we provide a wide range of anesthetic techniques to make your procedure as comfortable as possible. Office based anesthetic techniques can range from local anesthesia (numbing medicine only), nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or conscious/deep sedation (IV medicine to induce sedation). Your doctor will discuss the different options with you and provide the best anesthetic technique for your procedure.
We Have a Range of Anesthesia Options to Ensure Your Comfort!
IV Sedation
Our doctors have completed thorough anesthesia training and are licensed to administer general anesthesia in our office. If you choose IV Sedation, you will receive IV medicine to induce sedation.
With IV Sedation:
DO NOT eat or drink SIX HOURS prior to surgery; this includes water (unless taking cardiac or blood pressure medications-you can take with a small sip of water).
You MUST have a driver on the premises at all times BEFORE, DURING and AFTER your procedure.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is a fast-acting inhalation sedation with relaxation and pain relieving properties.
With Nitrous Oxide:
There are no eating or drinking restrictions before surgery.
The depth of sedation can be changed at any time.
You can drive yourself to and from your appointment.
Local Anesthesia
Local anesthesia involves an injection of an anesthetic solution into the area that is being treated. It will numb the area so that you will be comfortable during the procedure.
With Local Anesthesia:
There are no eating or drinking restrictions.
You can drive yourself to and from your appointment.
